Background

The Crescent School was founded by a young Philanthropist, Shaikh Shamsher Alam, in the year 2002 to impart quality education in a well disciplined and healthy environment, and to create an impetus for equal opportunity in the society. Subsequently, the overall control of the school was handed over to The Crescent Charitable Trust, a non-proprietary and a non-profit making organization, working towards the cause of education with the sole purpose of excelling in the field. Today, the school makes significant contribution towards national progress by providing high quality education to the socially and economically deprived strata of the society and bringing them to the mainstream of national growth and prosperity.

The school is declared as a Minority Educational Institution by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Government of India and is recognised by and affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
